What Is AGLCAMI (AGL Custom Admin Menu Icons) Plugin?

AGLCAMI is WordPress plugin used for WordPress admin menu icons management. With this plugin, you can do almost anything with the admin menu icons.

What This Plugin Can Do?

Here are some of the things you can do with this plugin:

  • Replace default WordPress icons with different WordPress dashboard icons. WordPress currently supports more than 190 predefined and commonly used dashboard icons.
  • Apply custom colors to dashboard icons.
  • Upload custom image file, or use an image from WordPress Media Library as an icon.
  • Use animated GIF images to have animated icons in your admin menu.
  • Draw an icon in AGLCAMI icon editor. You can basically draw your custom icon in pixel matrix, and use it after as an icon. Apply custom colors to such icons.
  • Hide some or all icons from the admin menu.
  • Remove admin menu item separators (extra spaces) between some items in the admin menu.
  • Hide Collapse button
  • Apply custom CSS styles to admin menu or anywhere in the admin panel.

Installation

Where I Can Download This Plugin?

Download location is available only for users that have bought this plugin. If you already have a license key for this product, please check the email that we have sent to you. It contains a download link. Alternative way to download the plugin is to log in to User Dashboard page and open Download page, where you can find all required information.

I Don't Have a License Key, Can I Still Download the Plugin?

No. This is available only for users with valid license key. Please do not try to share your license key with other people, it may become blacklisted, and we can permanently block all our services to your account.

How to Install It?

First, make sure that you have valid license key for this product (buy the plugin first). You can log in to User Dashboard page to download the plugin. We will also send an email to you with the required steps for installation, and a link to download the plugin. Please follow these steps in order to set up your plugin correctly.

  1. Download plugin from provided link
  2. Extract and upload the plugin files to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
  3. Go to you WordPress site and activate AGL Custom Admin Menu Icons plugin.
  4. Open plugin's page Tools -> AGL Custom Admin Menu Icons plugin.
  5. Add required license information and submit. Your plugin should be activated and ready to use after this step.

How to Uninstall It?

This plugin can be uninstalled in the same way as any other WordPress plugin. Go to Plugins -> and click Deactivate. Click Delete after that to completely remove it from the site.

How to Open AGLCAMI Page?

  1. Go to: Tools -> AGL Custom Admin Menu Icons
  2. Icon Manager page should be opened, and you should be able to see admin menu Icon Manager with applied icons.

How Can I Change an Icon?

  1. Open AGLCAMI page
  2. Click on Change Icon on an item you want to change.
  3. Change Admin Menu Icon pop-up window should open. You can choose from 3 types of icons: Dashboard Icon, Custom Icon, Uploaded Icon
  4. Select the type of the icon, make some changes and press OK button to confirm.

What Are Dashboard Icons?

Dashboard icons are predefined icons used by WordPress. Some of them can already be seen in the admin menu, but many of them exist in your WordPress and are used in different places.

With AGLCAMI you can use any of these icons in WordPress admin menu! Apart from that, you can apply custom colors to each icon and further improve users experience.

How to Change Dashboard Icons?

  1. Open AGLCAMI page
  2. Click on Change Icon button on an item you want to change.
  3. Change Admin Menu Icon pop-up window should open. You can choose from 3 types of icons: Dashboard Icon, Custom Icon, Uploaded Icon
  4. Choose WordPress Icons tab
  5. Select an icon from the list
  6. Select a color of the icon
  7. Click Save button
  8. New icon is applied to Icon Manager
  9. Click master Save Changes button to apply this change to the admin menu

With AGLCAMI you can use any of these icons in WordPress admin menu! Apart from that, you can apply custom colors to each icon and further improve users experience.

What Are Custom Icons?

Custom icons are icons that are manually drawn by the user in AGLCAMI Icon Editor. Once you create an icon in AGLCAMI Icon Editor, you can use it in AGLCAMI Icon Manager and apply different colors to it. Custom icons are generated whenever new color is used in Icon Manager. All generated images are stored in wp-content/uploads/agl-custom-admin-menu-icons folder. To see the full list of generated icon, please go to: AGLCAMI page -> Custom Icons tab -> Icons tab

How to Create or Change Custom Icons?

To create new custom icon, we need to create a custom icon template first:

  1. Open AGLCAMI page
  2. Click Custom Icon tab
  3. Click New tab on Custom Icon page
  4. Give a name to the icon template
  5. Draw new icon by selecting the pixels
  6. When you're ready, click Save Icon button
  7. Icon is now ready for use!

Once you create an icon in AGLCAMI Icon Editor, you can use it in AGLCAMI Icon Manager and apply different colors to it.

  1. Open AGLCAMI page
  2. Click on Change Icon button on an item you want to change.

  5. Select an icon template from the list

What Are Uploaded Icons?

User can upload a custom image to WordPress Media Library and use it as Uploaded Icon

How to Use Uploaded Icons?

First, you need to register an image as AGLCAMI icon:

  1. Open AGLCAMI page
  2. Click on Uploaded Icons tab
  3. Click Upload Image button
  4. Choose an existing image from media library or upload new image from disk. Confirm with OK.
  5. New image is added to the list. Give it a name and click Save. Icon should be now ready to use by Icon Manager.

When the icon is registered in AGLCAMI plugin, you should be able to use it in AGLCAMI Icon Manager.

  1. Open AGLCAMI page
  2. Click Icon Manager tab (if it's not already opened).
  3. Click Change Icon button on a menu item.
  4. Click on Uploaded Icons tab.
  5. Select the icon, and confirm with OK
  6. Click master Save Changes button on the bottom of the page.
  7. New icon should be applied to the admin menu.

How To Use Animated Images as Icons?

First, you need to register an image as AGLCAMI icon, and after that you should be able to use it AGLCAMI Icon Manager.

The steps are pretty much the same as in How To Use Uploaded Icons? tutorial. You just need to make sure to upload and use animated GIF image.

What is AGLCAMI Icon Editor?

AGLCAMI plugin gives you an opportunity to draw custom icons using pixel matrix in AGLCAMI icon editor. You can draw almost anything so this feature gives you full control over the icon creation. The only limitation is your creativity!

After an icon is created, pick your favourite color and your icon is ready!

How Can I Draw a Custom Icon?

You need to create a Custom Icon template.

How Can I Apply Custom CSS to the Menu?

AGLCAMI supports custom CSS:

  1. Open AGLCAMI page
  2. Click on Additional CSS tab
  3. Add custom CSS
  4. Click Save Changes button

Custom CSS can be applied to the admin menu, and admin panel as well. Anything you add here will be applied all the time on all admin panel pages and for all users.

What Are Additional Plugin Settings?

AGLCAMI plugin provides few additional settings that can do something with the WordPress admin menu

To open the settings:

  1. Open AGLCAMI page
  2. Click on Menu Settings tab
  3. Check/un-check the settings
  4. Click Save Changes button

These are the features that are currently supported by the AGLCAMI

  • Hide all icons: hides all icons from the admin menu
  • Hide Collapse menu: hides the last (Collapse menu) item from the admin menu
  • Hide first/second/third admin menu separator: hides the extra spaces between some elements in the admin menu

Can I Hide Some or All Icons from the Admin Menu?

Yes. You can hide some of the icons if you go to Icon Manager -> click Hide Icon button on a element. There is a Hide All Icons (or Show All Icons) button on the bottom of the page that can be used to hide/show all icons. There is also a setting in Menu Settings that can be used to to the same.

Compatibility

Does It Work with My WordPress Version?

It requires at least WordPress 3.9 or higher to work properly. We DO NOT recommend to use it with earlier WordPress versions.

Is It Compatible with AG Custom Admin Plugin?

Yes. AGLCAMI plugin is compatible with the latest AG Custom Admin plugin. In case that you find any issues, please report them to us via AGLCAMI ticketing system or contact page.

Is It Compatible with My WordPress Theme or Installed Plugins?

AGLCAMI is created in a way to have minimal possible conflict with other WordPress plugins or themes. If you find any compatibility issues, please report it to us, and we will try to resolve it.

Does it support WordPress multisite feature?

This feature is currently NOT supported.

Licensing

What Are the Limitations of This License?

This license can be used on max. 3 domains. Plugin updates are available for one year. When this period ends, you can keep using the plugin, but updates are not available any more. Please don't try to update the plugin after that, because you will need new license key!

What is Activation?

Once you have activated a plugin on a site with specific license key, one activation is spent. Please be aware that even installing the plugin on test sites (like on localhost) counts. Activation counts only once per license key lifetime, so you are free to re-install whole site completely, and the next time you install the same plugin on the same site/domain with the same license key, activation will not be spent.

How to Check the Sites Where I Have Activated This Plugin?

You can check this license on User Dashboard page. There is a section Activated On with the list of activated sites.

If I Uninstall the Plugin from My Site, Will I Get My Activation Back?

No. Once you activate this plugin on specific site with specific license key, it will remain activated until your license expires. So, you are free to uninstall the plugin or even uninstall the whole site, but we will still keep information about your activation. The next time you try to install the same plugin on the same site with the same license key, previous activation will be used again, without spending new activation.

You can always check the current state of your license on User Dashboard page.

Updates

How Do Updates Work?

When there is a new update for the plugin available, you will get an update notification in the WordPress panel in Updates section, in the same way as you get for all other plugins. To manually check for the updates please go to Dashboard -> Updates -> click Check Again button (please try 2 times). If an update is available it should appear in the list. See the change log link for more information. It's up to you to choose to update the plugin or not.

Is It Safe to Update the Plugin?

Yes, if you have a valid, non-expired license key. If your license key is expired, please try NOT to update the plugin, because it's required to provide valid license key each time the new plugin version is installed.

My License Has Expired, Can I Use Plugin Updates?

No. When your license expires, plugin updates are not available any more. If you try to update the plugin, you will be asked to provide license key. In case that your license has expired, you will not be able to use the plugin any more. When your license expires it's best to buy new license to keep up with the new updates, or to stick with your current plugin version.

Why Should I Keep up with New Plugin Updates? Is It Required?

It is not required, but it's highly recommended. We are constantly working to make this plugin even better, to fix issues reported by customers and to add new features. It could be possible that some of the features in your current AGLCAMI version may not work in future WordPress releases, but we will always make new updates for the plugin in order to support new WordPress versions.

How Can I Use Plugin Updates?

When the plugin is activated in your WordPress site, automatic check for plugin updates should be activated, so you should be notified when there's a new update for this plugin, like it's the case for all other WordPress plugins.

Debugging Issues and Support

How to Report an Issue?

You can report an issue in different ways:

  1. Submit a support ticket (Recommended). This is the fastest way to resolve your issue.
  2. Report the issue using our contact page
  3. Send us an email

AGLCAMI Plugin Does Not Work Correctly on My Site, What Can I Do?

You should:

  1. Enable Debugging mode on AGCA plugin
  2. Open the AGLCAMI page
  3. Copy the logs from browser's console (F12 -> console)
  4. Create a support ticket on My Dashboard page, and paste the logs

How to Submit a Support Ticket?

Please make sure first that you have a valid license key in order to access our users dashboard page.

  1. Open the My Dashboard page
  2. Use your license key to get the access to this page
  3. Click on Create a Ticket button
  4. Provide all required information and submit

What is Debugging?

In case that you have some JavaScript errors on the plugin page, or some features are not working as they suppose to work. You can contact our support and send the debugging information. We will try to find the solution for your problem.

How to Record Debugging Information?

There are two ways to enable plugin's debugging mode:

  1. Open /wp-content/plugins/agl-custom-admin-menu-icons/plugin.php and change $this->debug property from "false" to "true". Save and reload the page.
  2. Make sure that AGLCAMI page is opened. Add "&debug=true" at the end of the URI and press Enter.

When page runs in debugging mode, you should see some logs in browser's console. Press F12 key and find the console to see the logs. Copy this information and send it to our support with short explanation about the issue.

It is useful for us to see some information about the data used in the plugin on your site, so you can send this information as well. To find the data, open AGLCAMI site and add "&debug=data" at the end of the URI. Press Enter. Data will show up on the screen. Copy the data and send it to our support team.

Troubleshooting

I Am Unable to Activate/Upgrade the Plugin

There could be many different reasons why you can't activate the plugin:

  1. You get an error message when you try to activate it. Reasons:
    • The license key or email are not correct.
    • Your license key is not valid any more or it's expired.
    • Your license key is blacklisted and disabled.
    • Your license key has reached max. number of activations limit.
  2. You get a plugin compatibility error. In this is the case, please download the latest AGLCAMI plugin version. If possible, please try to update your WordPress site to the latest version.
  3. You get a JavaScript error, or something that is not expected to happen Solution: Please enable DEBUG mode in the plugin, record the logs and send it to our support.

JavaScript errors can block AGLCAMI or cause it to stop working properly. To investigate the problem we recommend looking for more information in browser's console (F12). If you're unable to identify/fix the problem by yourself, we recommend you to enable DEBUG mode in AGLCAMI plugin, copy the console logs and submit a support ticket.
